Castration Offer

Our Castration Offer runs from 1st September 2023 until 30th April 2024. We are offering a discounted package deal for foals, yearlings and 2 year olds. A valid equine passport must be presented at the time of Castration. The package cost is £170+VAT. This cost excludes the visit fee which will be charged in addition. To avoid the visit fee you can bring your horse to either Blueberry Farm, Berkshire or Model Farm, Buckinghamshire and have 24hrs hospitalisation free of charge or utilise one of our castration clinic days.

Terms and conditions:

  • Standing Castrations Only.
  • Colts must be aged between 10 months-2 years, in good condition with two fully descended testicles to qualify.
  • It is at the discretion of the treating veterinary surgeon to determine eligibility criteria. If you are unsure if your colt will qualify please contact the practice to discuss this further prior to your appointment.
  • Yard Visit Fee applies if not performed in clinic.
  • Any charges related to post-operative complications are not covered within the remit of the package and will be charged in addition.
  • No other discount offers can be used in conjunction with this offer (e.g. prompt payment discount or free visit days).
  • Payment will be taken at the time of the booking or when the horse is admitted to hospital.
  • Offer available from 1st September 2023-30th April 2024.
  • Passports must be present at time of castration.
  • It is a legal requirement for your horse to have a passport and microchip. If your horse does not have a microchip or passport, we are happy to provide estimates of costs for this to be performed at the same time as castration.
  • The offer includes; castration, sedation, local anaesthetic, 1 antibiotic injection, 1 injection of pain relief and 24 hours hospitalisation.
  • The following treatments/procedures are not included in the price of the package; vaccinations, visit fees, additional hospitalisation, further anti-biotics, NSAIDs and treatment for any post-operative complications.
  • If your horse/pony is not vaccinated for Tetanus they will require an additional injection of Tetanus anti-toxin at the time of castration which will be charged in addition to the package
  • Castration under a short General Anaesthetic may be required in small ponies or young or unhandled animals. They will also be required if the patient has one testicle that is not fully descended. The location of the testicle will determine if a more complex procedure is required. This is often only possible to confirm after the patient has been sedated.
  • If the patient has fully retained testicle/s then a more complex procedure will be required.
  • If your colt requires a general anaesthetic we are happy to provide estimates of costs.
  • If your colt/stallion is older than 2 years we are happy to provide estimates of costs.
  • The practice reserves the right to alter the terms and conditions or remove the discounted package from circulation at any time.


Castration Clinic Days - Limited Time Offer Available

£150+VAT for Standing Castration

£200+VAT for Castration under General Anaesthetic

In addition to our usual castration offer, in December 2023 and February 2024 we will be running two reduced price castration clinic days at our Blueberry Farm Hospital. There is a limited number of spaces available. Horses must be transported into the hospital for this and will be hospitalised for post-operative monitoring overnight. The clinics will be run on Tuesday 5 th December 2023 and on Tuesday 20th February 2024.

  • The following treatments/procedures are not included in the price of the package; vaccinations, visit fees, additional hospitalisation, further anti-biotics, NSAIDs and treatment for any post-operative complications.
  • For the Castration Clinic day ONLY we will offer 10% prompt payment discount for any treatments/procedures not included in the package or at an already discounted rate.
