Equine sports massage is a complementary therapy used in conjunction with veterinary treatment and diagnostics. Massage releases tension and aids in relaxation. Muscle manipulation along with active and passive stretching are used.
It is important to use a well trained and experienced
masseuse. There are many equine sports massage courses on offer in the UK, but
no license or national governing body regulates equine masseurs. We recommend
making sure your provider has had a specific equine orientated training course
and liability insurance.
Please Note
Equine Sports Massage is not a substitute for veterinary attention. All work must be carried out in accordance with the Veterinary Surgeons Act 1966, which states that veterinary consent must be obtained before working on any animal.
